The Future is Now: Five Emerging Employer Branding Trends for 2025 and Beyond

If you read my bio on the Revel website, you’ll learn I’m no stranger to the job hunt. It took me several years and a couple of industry switches to find my place at Revel. (And now, I’m not shy about touting how much I enjoy my work and appreciate being on the Revel team. I’m grateful to be here for the team, our clients, and the Muskegon community. I’m the winner in the hiring war. Truly.)

Still, in the bigger picture and across industries, the war for talent is raging. In 2025, attracting top-tier employees requires a deeper understanding of what truly matters to them. It’s not just about finding the right people; it’s about crafting an employer brand that makes the right people choose you.

Here are five trends we’re paying attention to as we enter 2025 that can help you in your recruitment efforts.

1. Authenticity and Transparency Reign Supreme

Today’s job seekers (aka Gen Zers) crave authenticity. They want to see the real people behind the brand, the genuine culture, and the honest truth about what it’s like to work at your company.

What does this mean for you? There are a couple of things you can do to highlight what it’s like to really work at your company:

  • Encourage your team to share their experiences on social media, showcasing the day-to-day realities of your workplace.
  • Give candidates a glimpse into your company culture through authentic videos and photos on social media, e-newsletters, website content, and anywhere else you might showcase your organization publicly.
  • Showcase your commitment to employee well-being by highlighting flexible work arrangements, generous time-off policies, a supportive work environment, and other benefits of being a part of your team.

By being authentic in how you share your employer brand you can attract today’s young job seeker who is eager to be on a team of “real” people.

2. Employee Well-Being Takes Center Stage

Mental health, work-life balance, and overall well-being are no longer just buzzwords. Younger job seekers will not accept less than an authentic commitment to these things as they are prioritizing their holistic well-being—and they expect their employers to do the same.

Here are some things to consider as you think about employee well-being and your employer brand:

By prioritizing employee well-being, you’ll not only attract top talent, but you’ll boost productivity, reduce burnout, and improve employee retention.

3. Internal Influencer Marketing Is on the Rise

The term “influencer” has been trending in business spaces for years now. In fact, according to the latest data from ZipRecruiter, as of Dec 19, 2024, the average annual pay for a Social Media Influencer in the United States is $57,928 a year. What does this have to do with your employer branding?

Here’s the truth—your employees are your most powerful brand advocates, so you need to think about ways you can empower them to share their stories and become internal influencers.

Here are some ideas for how you can leverage this trend in your employer branding efforts:

  • Provide your team with the tools and resources to share their experiences on social media through a formal employee advocacy program
  • Let employees share their perspectives and give candidates an inside look at different roles and departments.
  • Encourage employee-generated content, which is to say, have your employees create blog posts, videos, and other content showcasing your company’s culture and values. (I know I’m a writer, and I’m a little biased, but writing for the Revel blog like this really is one of my favorite parts of my job. I get to share what I know and contribute to our company’s story in a way I know is valuable. It’s a win-win for all of us.)

By tapping into the power of internal influencer marketing, you can expand your reach, build trust, and engage with potential candidates on a personal level. This is especially essential for reaching young job seekers where they are.

4. DEI Is Non-Negotiable

A genuine commitment to DEI is essential for attracting a diverse talent pool and fostering a culture of belonging (despite what you might be seeing about bigger companies rolling back their DEI initiatives).

When it comes to talent acquisition, a truly inclusive environment fosters a sense of belonging, where individuals from all backgrounds can bring their authentic selves to work and reach their full potential. In turn, this attracts a wider range of talent, bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas that drive business success.

The thing is, you have to showcase your DEI initiative in a way that is authentic and feels real because today’s job seekers are so turned off by anything that comes across as fake or phony. So, here are some ideas to showcase DEI at your organization

  • Have your employees share their stories to highlight your organization’s diverse voices and perspectives.
  • Promote your commitment to equal opportunities, pay equity, and accessibility.
  • Consider ways you can celebrate differences.
  • Examine your unconscious biases.

By authentically showcasing your DEI initiatives, you can attract individuals who align with your company’s values and foster a more inclusive workplace.

5. Data-Driven Decisions Drive Success

In 2025, you need to track, measure, and analyze your results to maximize the impact of your employer branding efforts. This means going beyond surface-level assumptions and delving into the hard numbers to understand what resonates with your target audience (and younger job seekers), what drives engagement, and what ultimately influences their decision to join (or leave) your company.

Here are some ideas for maximizing a data-driven approach to your employer branding strategy:

  • Gather data on candidate sources, application completion rates, and time-to-hire through applicant tracking systems
  • Monitor social media analytics to track engagement, reach, and reactions to your employer brand content.
  • Gather feedback on employee satisfaction, engagement, and perceptions of your company culture through employee surveys.

By leveraging data, you can identify what’s working and what’s not and optimize your employer branding strategy for maximum impact.
