How to Build the Ultimate Contact Page to Generate Leads

It’s not uncommon for a website to have a contact page, but it is common for companies to not really put a lot of thought into its design. After all, it’s just a form, right? Au contraire. 

In actuality, your contact page serves not only as a means of communication between you and your customers, but also a way to generate and capture both potential employee and customer leads. In other words, it’s important to give it the attention it deserves and design it in a way that it can be used to its full potential. 1. Make it Easy to Find

Users don’t want to be digging around your site in order to contact you for a simple question. They will quickly become frustrated if they are unable to find your contact page, and you will risk losing them as a customer or potential employee. Luckily, this is an easy fix. Users typically check the main navigation for a “Contact us” link or look in the footer, so it is best to place a button that leads to your contact page in both places. 

2. Keep It Short

A contact form is meant to allow the user to quickly contact a business in order to have a question answered. If there are too many fields to fill out, the user may end up not filling out anything at all because it takes too much time. Only ask the questions that are absolutely necessary, like Name, Email and Message. If you expect potential employees to fill this form out, it’s also a good idea to include the ability to upload a resume.

When someone fills out your contact form, a notification should be sent to the appropriate people in your organization with the information that was received from the form submission. This ensures no time is wasted and responses can be given quickly and directly. It is important that users know you received the message and that they will hear from you soon. For this reason, you should always make sure your contact form displays a confirmation message to your users once there is a submission. Otherwise, they are left wondering if and when you will see their message and what they should expect next.

5. Consider the Mobile-Friendliness Factor

In today’s technologically advanced and on-the-go world, people are using their phones to access content more than ever before. Your contact form needs to be designed so that it is as easy to use on a mobile device as it is on a laptop or desk computer. We cannot express the importance of this enough, especially considering the millennial workforce out there looking for jobs and the competitiveness involved in modern day customer acquisition.   

6. Make Sure It’s Trackable

Users are filling out your form, but how are you going to measure if that form is generating leads? This is where Google Analytics events and goals can come into play. You can use Google Analytics to track when a form is submitted, along with how users got to the form and your site. This is important information for gauging how well your form is performing overall and allows you to make adjustments if you notice certain trends.
