AI Policy

1. Purpose and Scope

This policy outlines the principles and guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies within Revel. The policy aims to address concerns related to intellectual property, data protection, and the safety and professionalism of AI tools. It applies to all employees, including but not limited to design, copywriting, videography, photography, web development, strategy, research, public relations (PR), social media, search engine optimization (SEO), and search engine marketing (SEM).

  • Revel shall ensure transparent communication with clients regarding AI tools, including their benefits and potential risks.

  • Revel shall foster a culture of curiosity and innovation, encouraging continuous learning and the integration of new, trusted AI tools.

2.4 Safety and Professionalism

  • Revel shall prioritize the use of AI software from reputable sources to ensure that all tools employed are professional, safe, and reliable.

3. Intellectual Property and Data Usage

3.1 Ownership of AI-Generated Work

  • Copyright laws traditionally recognize works created by humans. AI-generated works may not automatically qualify for copyright protection under current laws because there is no human author.
  • Human Involvement: If there is significant human involvement in the creation of the AI-generated image (e.g., selecting prompts, guiding the process, making edits, or if the AI content is one element of a larger, human generated work), the person who used the AI tool may claim authorship and copyright.
  • Our contract terms state all work is done under a “work-for-hire” agreement. This means, the client owns the rights to the work product generated by AI, with human involvement.

3.2 Data Protection

  • Revel shall handle customer data with the highest level of confidentiality and use it solely for service enhancement purposes.

  • Revel shall continuously update its AI capabilities to remain at the forefront of industry trends and provide clients with cutting-edge solutions.

6. Selection and Monitoring of AI Tools

6.1 Vetting Process

  • Revel shall conduct evaluations of all subscription-based AI tools prior to their integration to ensure they meet high standards of safety, professionalism, and reliability.

6.2 Ongoing Evaluation

  • The performance and safety of AI tools shall be continuously monitored. Any issues identified shall be promptly addressed to maintain the integrity and quality of services.

7. Communication and Implementation

7.1 Employee Training and Awareness

  • This policy shall be communicated to all employees through training sessions and regular updates. An accessible version of the policy shall be made available on the internal portal.

7.2 Guiding Principle Implementation

  • Do not share customer information that is not intended for public consumption. The majority of our work product is intended for the public.
  • AI Meeting note takers are currently not approved for customer meetings. This is due to the uncertainty around privacy agreements that some customers have in place, and the potential for sensitive information in conversations being shared with a third party. 
  • Human involvement in the generation of AI content, and careful review of the final work product is required. 

7.3 Client Communication

  • The AI policy shall be made available on the company website, and is available to any customer that has questions about how we use AI in our work product.
